Arlin Mills

Arlin Mills, age 84, of Ellis passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 in Ellis.Arlin was born December 20, 1926 in Hamilton, Kansas to Richard and Muriel (Alexander) Mills. He graduated from Hamilton High School and later attended Emporia State University and Fort Hays State University.In October 1947, Arlin married Wahnetta Hoffman of Ogallah, Kansas. They have made their home in Ellis for the past 64 years.Arlin devoted 41 years teaching math and science at Ellis High School. He retired in 1991 and later served 8 years on the Ellis School Board.Arlin was baptized and became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in 1948. He taught adult Sunday School class and served on the church council for many years.Arlin is survived by his wife, Wahnetta, daughters Sue (Kirby) Bradley of Garden City and Sally (Alan) Weber of Olathe, grandchildren Ross and Jaclyn Weber, and great grandson Jude Weber. Arlin is also survived by sisters Delores (Bob) Schmidt of Lake View, Minnesota and Anita James of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church located 7 miles north of Ellis. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th Ellis, KS. 67637. Thursday visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church.The family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, Ellis, or the Alzheimer's Association.
