Anna Flax

Obituary



Anna Flax, age 94, of Ellis, Kansas passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hays Medical Center. She was born March 4, 1927 in Ellis, Kansas to Philip and Frances (Gnad) Schuster. On September 20, 1948 she married Phillip J. Flax in St. Marys Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2009.

Anna was a homemaker and truly loved being a mother and grandmother. She often cared for her grandchildren and preparing family dinners was something that she did often. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella both of Ellis. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, house plants, sewing and embroidery work.



Anna is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Knoll and husband Fred of Hays, Charlotte Pfeifer and husband Eldon, Ruth Bollig and husband Richard and Millie Haas and husband Gary all of Ellis; eleven grandchildren, Shawn (Kayleen) Knoll of Omaha, Grady (Tonya) Knoll of Hays, Sheldon (April) Pfeifer of Ellis, Jason (Beth) Pfeifer of Russell, Brandon (Chandra) Pfeifer of Ellis, Janelle (Matt) Mongeau of LaCrosse, Preston (Annie) Bollig of Ellis, Alyson (Darren) Johnson of Ellis, Daniel (Lacie) Haas of Ellis, Daren (Whitney) Haas of Bashor and Dylan Haas of Lenexa. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Ignatius Schuster and a sister, Elizabeth Amrein.



Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Funeral Mass may be viewed on Facebook Live at www.keithleyfuneralchapels.com and select the Facebook Live tab at the top of the page. Once the service starts the video will come on live.

Visitation will be Monday 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 AM until service time all at St. Mary's Church.

A combined parish vigil and Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 PM Monday at the church.



Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Marys Church or St. Marys School.
