Obituary



Alice Irene Schneider, 96, of Hays, Kansas left this earthly realm on the afternoon of Sept. 21st, 2019 at her home at Brookdale Senior Living. Alice was born to James F. and Virginia (Koerner) Giebler on Sept. 13th, 1923 in a two-room stone house north-west of Severin, the 6th of 12 children. She married Clarence Schneider, Sr. in 1982. He died in 1994. Alice married Paul Warrick of Marshall, TX on February 7th, 1944, a staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps, based at the Walker, KS Air Base. They were married for 35 years and had 4 daughters. Paul died in 2006.

Alice's passion was sewing and fashion and she worked as a seamstress and dressmaker for many years in Hays and Denver. She was also an avid painter,and created doll cloths and other crafts. Alice was a member of St. Fidelis Basilica in Victoria for many years, and more recently of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays.

She is survived by her sisters Ruth Carter of Jacksonville, FL, Mae Desch-Boos, Lafayette, CO., and brothers Kenneth (Edna) and Vernon (Lori). Four daughters Gere Warrick (Chet), Athens, GA; Jan Warrick (Chris), Bowmanville, ON; Jenelle Warrick, Tonawanda, NY; and Julie Woodrick (Roberta), Lawrence, KS; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Loretta (Henry) Stecklein, Sylvia (Richard) Stecklein, Ventura (Alvin) Weigel, Lorraine (Marvin) Dreiling and Jeannie (Francis Al.) Rupp ; and brothers Joseph (Lucille) and James (Theresa).

Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Thursday, September 26, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Arc of Central Plains thrift store.
