Alice M. (Windholz) Staab age 90, of Hays, Kansas died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born March 2, 1930 to Raymond and Adelaide (Wasinger) Windholz in Victoria, Kansas where she lived her entire childhood and attended school along with her 10 brothers and sisters. She married Robert J. Staab on September 11, 1946 at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2016.

They spent their early years residing in Hays, Omaha, NE and Victoria before finally settling in Hays in 1960. She retired from Travenol Laboratories in Hays and, along with her husband, owned and operated many businesses, including The Blue Sky Tavern, The Cue-Ball, Kents Cafe and Shellys Restaurant, all in Hays. She was a lifelong Catholic, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays and a lifetime member of the Daughters of Isabella in Victoria.

Alice was a loving wife and mother who spent years caring for her family. She enjoyed ceramics and spent many hours painting her creations and perfecting her craft. She loved games and could often be found playing cards, Yahtzee and bingo.

Survivors include six sons, Robert Dean Staab and wife, Dorothy, Plainville, KS; Willian Staab, Victoria, KS; John Staab and wife, Debby, The Villages, FL; Kenneth Staab and wife Connie, David Staab, Randy Staab and wife, Paula, all of Hays, KS; one daughter, Sandy Staab, Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters-in-law, Millie Hammersmith-Windholz, Victoria, KS; Delma Hogue, Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Terry Staab; five brothers, Julius, Sylvester, Alvin, Raymond, Ralph Windholz; one infant brother, Anthony Windholz; two sisters, Georgine Wasinger and Theresa Wood; two infant sisters, Johanna Marie Windholz and Delores Catherine Windholz; one granddaughter, Jessica Staab; one great granddaughter, Rachel Alexander; and one great great grandson, Kayden Weilert.

Due to the COVID-19, a private family only Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 24, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The mass will be live stream on St. Joseph facebook page for public to view. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

The family suggests memorials to Catholic Charities in care of the mortuary.
