On August 16, 1927, a bright and beautiful day, Alice Dechant was born to Charley and Emma Munsch. She loved both her parents dearly and brought much love into their hearts. As a child, Alice worked very hard helping her family on their farm and often mentioned that those days - though hard - were some of the best days of her life. She worked and played along-side her brothers and sisters: Severin, Eddie, Helen, Victor, Francis, James, Deloris, and Lenny who are all deceased; in addition she is survived by sisters,Eileen Hoff and Rosalita Flax of Ness City, KS. and a brother, Charles Munsch and his wife, Jeanie of Russell, KS. Alice married her wonderful husband, Isadore Dechant, on October 15, 1946. Dancing was one of their most favorite pass-times and they made sure they took advantage of every opportunity to practice that polka. Sadly, Issy died on May 7, 1999 but left Alice with the love and support of three dear children - sons, Robert Dechant and wife Patricia of Mesa, AZ, and Jerry Dechant of Mountain View, CA;, and a daughter, Victoria Gripe and husband Ronald of Colorado Springs, CO. who survive. Her son Robert and his wife Patricia gave her three beautiful granddaughters - Tina, Theresa and Cindy as well as seven Great-grandsons: Tyler, Gunner, Jonathan, Nicholas, Cameron, Joshua and Joseph. Victoria and her husband Ronald Gripe gave Alice two loving and caring grandsons - Scott and Noel. Noel and his wife Ireen are parents to a wonderful daughter, Mia. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive her. Alice had many careers in her lifetime. She loved working as a waitress for many years as well as in the fabric departments of several stores. Her most notable accomplishments were associated with her incredible talents of designing and sewing breathtaking wedding dresses and complete ensembles for many lucky brides and bridesmaids. Fortunately, Alice kept photos of many of the wedding dresses she made and shared them proudly with her friends. Her talent was simply amazing and very impressive. Alice went into the arms of God's Angels on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the age of 85. She is able to finally rest in eternal peace with her family that passed before her. Until we all meet again, we will miss her. We want to send a very special and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Mt. Saint Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
