Addie B. Kingsley

Addie B. (Skelton) Kingsley died Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Hays, Kansas. She was 94 years old. She was born in Seligman, MO on November 21, 1918 to Randolph and Kate (Frost) Skelton. She married David Mahlon Kingsley, July 24, 1949 in Hays, Kansas.

Addie B. attended Fort Hays Normal School and graduated with a teaching degree, teaching in Buckeye rural school, and area Hays schools before moving to Kansas City to work for Kansas City Power and Light. Upon her marriage, she and Mahlon made their home south of Ellis on the farm homesteaded by Mahlons grandfather. She was a loving farmwife and mother, a homemaker, a member of Ellis United Methodist Church, church circle, Eastern Star and PEO. She served as a 4-H leader,enjoyed gardening and she was an accomplished knitter and weaver.

She is survived by her husband of the home, her three sons, Douglas and wife Debbie, Lampe, MO, Roger and Jody Patten, Ellis, KS, Timothy and wife, Lilly of Hays, five grandchildren, Joshua and wife Misty of Milwaukee, WI, Bradley and wife Rebekah of Brooklyn, NY, Rachel Loving and husband, Shane of Hays, Erica Hedge and husband Andrew of Overland Park, KS, Austin Fickel of Branson, MO and three great-grandchildren, Alexander and Isaac Loving of Hays and William Kingsley of Brooklyn, and a cousin, Lily Georgene Johnson of Hays; two nieces, Mary Kay Winburn and husband Jim of Lees Summit and Anabelle Wiles and husband Dean of Kansas City and two nephews, Steve Alexander of Merriam, KS. And Randy Alexander and wife Alice of Olathe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Ann Butrick and Catherine Anderson.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Ellis, Kansas with burial will follow services at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday 4:00 P.M. 7:00 P.M. at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E. 17th in Ellis and Tuesday 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
