Obituary





Virginia Geist age 93, of Hays, Kansas died Friday, December 24, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.

She was born December 16, 1928, in Ogallah, Kansas to Raymond and Pauline (Leiker) Klaus. She married Joseph G. "Joe" Geist on June 8, 1950, at Hays, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2008.

She was a homemaker, worked with Maxine Kisner serving wedding cakes for a number of years, and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Munjor, Kansas and lived her adult life in Hays. The last three years she has lived at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph G. Geist Jr., Hays, KS; Henry "Hank" Geist and wife, Sue, Hays, KS; her daughter, Nancy Ann Seib and husband, Mike, Hays, KS; her brother, Gerald "Gerry" Klaus and wife, Peggy, Hays, KS; her sister, Gloria Leiker and wife, Don, Hays, KS; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Christopher John Geist; four brothers, Fred "Fritz" Klaus; Elmer Klaus, Melvin Klaus, Ernie Klaus; and one sister, Georgine Herl-Eldredge.

A celebration of Life Service is at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Clines-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Father Nick Parker officiating. Inurnment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorial to Good Samaritan Society of Hays in care of the mortuary.
